No forms, no verification code, no IP addresses or ports to type. If you can share a code with a friend, you can use NØX.

  1. Install and get your ID

    NØX creates a unique Contact ID on your phone the first time it opens. It isn't tied to your number, your email or your name.

  2. Swap IDs with your contact

    Send your ID any way you like, or read it out. Add theirs with a name only you will see, and send the first message.

  3. They tap Accept

    Nothing opens until the other person accepts. Accepting saves the encryption keys on both phones, and from then on you talk phone to phone.

Two ways to connect. You choose per contact.

Either way the message is encrypted on your phone and can only be opened on theirs. The choice is about who can see that a connection exists.

Hide my IP on by default

Your connection travels through the Tor network, so neither your contact nor anyone watching the line can tie the conversation to your network address. Expect a small delay, the same way Tor slows a web page.

Direct you turn it on

For a contact you already trust, switch to a straight phone-to-phone path. Calls and large videos are faster. Your contact's phone can see your IP address, and NØX falls back to the hidden route if the direct one fails.

What we won't claim: no app can protect a phone that is unlocked in someone else's hand, or a contact who screenshots your chat. NØX removes the server, the account and the phone number from the picture. Keeping your phone locked is still your job.

Installing takes about a minute

  1. Tap Download NØX on your Android phone.
  2. Open the downloaded file. If Android asks, choose Settings and allow your browser to install apps, then go back.
  3. Tap Install, then open NØX and agree to the terms of use.
  4. Pick a username. Your Contact ID is ready to share.

Only install NØX from noxapp.in. Copies from anywhere else may have been tampered with.

Questions people ask first

Do I need a phone number or email?

No. NØX never asks for either. Your identity in the app is a Contact ID created on your phone, plus whatever username you choose to show.

Where are my messages stored?

On your phone and your contact's phone, encrypted. There is no NØX server holding a copy, so there is nothing for us to read, leak or hand over.

What happens if my contact is offline?

Your message waits on your phone and is delivered when they come back online. If you both want, you can switch on the optional mailbox in Settings, which lets a contact you trust hold the encrypted message until it can be delivered. It is off unless you turn it on.

Can a stranger message me if they find my ID?

They can send a request, and that's all. Nothing reaches your chats until you tap Accept, and you can ignore or delete a request without the sender learning anything about you.

I lost my phone. Can I get my chats back?

No. Your ID, keys and chats exist only on that phone, which is exactly why nobody else can get them either. Install NØX on the new phone, get a new ID and share it with your contacts again.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not yet. NØX is Android first.

NØX is built and owned by VCCL Cloud Pvt. Ltd., an Indian hosting and infrastructure company.

Privacy is a right. It is not a licence to harm anyone. By installing or using NØX you agree that:

  • You will use NØX for lawful purposes only, under the laws that apply where you live and in India.
  • You will not use NØX to threaten, harass, defraud or exploit any person, or to plan, promote or carry out any crime.
  • You are responsible for what you send and for keeping your own phone secure.
  • NØX is provided as it is, without warranty. VCCL Cloud Pvt. Ltd. does not hold your messages, contacts or keys and cannot recover them for you.
  • The NØX name, software and design are the property of VCCL Cloud Pvt. Ltd. You may not copy, modify, resell or redistribute the app.
